For days Minos could have slept but as soon as day broke after Titan’s death he was cruelly awakened from his deep slumber with a violent shake from a large Hybrid.

“Good morning, my lord.” The male beamed at the confused and irritated Minotaur. “You must see to the council issues today.”

“Fuck off.” Minos snarled, closing his eyes in a vain attempt to fall back into the blissful dreams, “Today I sleep, tomorrow I… rule.”

“Not so fast, my lord.” The creature said again, rough hand landing on Minos’ shoulder. “All play and no work will lead to chaos.”

“And me without sleep will lead to your death! Now be gone!” The Hybrid pulled away from the new king with a small frown. He shrugged and left the throne room; upon entering the council chambers he relayed the news that the king will not awaken to deal with the issues of today nor tomorrow most likely.

“How dare he?” One council member yelled, rising “If he will not come to us, we shall go to him!” This suggestion rallied a chorus of ‘here, here.’ And before the Hybrid could stop them, out they marched and down to the throne room where they knew the new king to be sleeping. Their leader slammed the door open and once again pulled the sleeping Minotaur out of his dreams and back into reality.

“What?” He snapped, glaring across the room at the men who interrupted his sleep. “I told whomever I will sleep today and deal with the issues tomorrow, if that is why you are here.”

“It is indeed, king.” The leader spoke, striding across the room and offering Minos his hand to shake. Minos only stared, unimpressed with the man’s actions. “Well, do you not shake hands?”

“I don’t feel like doing this. Get out. I will sleep or heads will roll and in such a large amount the former king’s wrath will look tame!” The bellow sent many of the councilors from the room but their leader stood fast against the words and the noise.

“The matters of state cannot wait! At least solve this solitary problem for us and we shall leave you be.” Minos waved his hand and the leader continued “When you slayed Titan you became king, now you must decide what to do with the royal property… The slaves, sire…”

“Release them.” The councilor smiled widely, assuming the great Minotaur was joking. “Do you think I am kidding? My mother was a slave, the woman who raised me was going to be a slave, and the ones that allowed me to take over this hell hole are slaves. Now, set them free. And leave me sleep.” The smile vanished within seconds, the councilor bowed and left the room yelling for the slaves to be released.

Minos settled back into his throne but much to his annoyance a door slammed open on the other side of his chambers and what seemed like hundreds of men, woman, and children flood in to the room shouting their thanks and other lost words. Minos smiled at his subjects for a few minutes before they all filed out.

Giving up on sleep Minos rose slowly and stiffly walked to the door the councilmen had used. Opening it and looking down the long hall way before him, he smiled when he heard the yelling of anger; following that he found the chamber and entered.

“Gentlemen!” The leader shouted out, the yelling halted and they followed the motion of his hand “This is our new fearless leader, King…Er, I’m sorry I don’t think I ever caught your name…”

“Minos,” the Minotaur supplied quickly.

“King Minos.” No sooner had he finished the statement and angry questions were being hurled at the new king.

“I will answer your questions with a simple statement: Don’t like my policies, get out.” The members of council balked at this statement, all being rendered speechless. Minos smirked and looked at all of them, waiting for a reaction beside stunned silence. It occurred faster than he expected, after just a few seconds the crowd was back to its yelling in protest. “Alright, enough! If you have questions, ask them one at a time!”

“Who are you?” One voice asked, the man could not be seen.

“I am Minos, second son of Titan and Luna. Raised by Alexis within the mountains. Next question.” The people quieted down as the next question was posed.

“If you are his second son, prove it.” Minos smirked and demanded his pack, once he had that he pulled out the small note that had been with him since the day Alexis found him, passing it around more and more faces began to appear friendly towards him though with the underlying anger at him still just below the surface.

“Alright, you are his son. That point is settled, but why free the slaves?” The leader asked, this question brought all distractions to a halt and everyone gazed upon the new king.

“The slaves are my friends, I would no more hold a fellow Hybrid in chains then I would hold a Human. I am a child of both and both should have respect. And outside these walls Hybrids and humans are friends. Only here are they different.” This slightly slow speech brought some of the anger back to the councilmen but those that suppressed their anger stepped forward and politely said they would be leaving his employ and his country, to which Minos allowed them free and safe passage. The ones that stayed were dared to defy him, though most seemed content with just having the answers they desired.
